Virtually all models of Leclerc Looms can be set up as either Jack or Counterbalance. Some, as originally designed like the old Colonial, others from the Factory with available Kits. This being the case, many of the parts are designed to be functional in either configuration and are so installed at the Factory. The Back Beam upright Warp Hangers are a case in point. When the Loom is operated as a Jack Loom the Notch(or Hole) on the very end of the Hanger is used. This will set the height of the bottom Shed just kissing the Race Plate with the Lay back in pick position. When set up as a Counterbalance or Countermarche, the inner Notches are used depending on which one sets the Shed approximately 2" above the Race Plate with Lay back in neutral positon and Shafts level. When the Shed is opened the bottom Shed will go down and just kiss the Race Plate. Obviusly there are fine adjustments in the Shaft Cords and in the height of the Reed(where applicable) that are also necessary for each new project. The next Notch is used for securing the uprights closest to the Loom for easy access from the back for Treadle tie-up at project change. In addition, when multiple Beams are used, the position of the Hangers are utilized if space is a consideration and it is preferable to move the second Beam closer to the Loom itself. Should you have any other questions, let me know. Between Francois and I we will find the answer, hopefully<G>>> Have a good day Tom Beaudet |
